Prof. Dr. Andreas Hilbert died after a long and severe illness

Prof. Dr. Andreas Hilbert (born 1966 in Ramstein-Miesenbach) died on March 1, 2019, much too early after a long and severe illness.

Andreas Hilbert has been the Chair of Business Informatics since 2004, especially Business Intelligence Research at the TU Dresden. Previously, he studied business mathematics at the Universities of Kaiserslautern and Karlsruhe, then earned his doctorate at the University of Augsburg with a thesis on “Theorie der Korrelationsmaße” and later obtained the teaching license for Business Administration. During his 15 years at the Dresden University of Technology, he focused on research and teaching in Business Intelligence Research, more precise the question of how new business intelligence systems could be developed, and Data mining methods can be applied to complex issues.

He succeeded in establishing these topics as a core of Dresdner Business Informatics in an impressive manner.

Andreas Hilbert was a longtime member of the GfKl and on took part in numerous annual meetings with his contributions. Together with colleagues Hermann Locarek-Junge and Werner Esswein, he organized the 33rd Annual Conference of the GfKl and the 11th Conference of the IFCS at the Technical University of Dresden at March 13-18, 2009.

Hermann Locarek-Junge participated together with many other members of the GfKl at the very well-attended memorial service on March 15, 2019 in Dresden and also expressed his condolences to his family on behalf of the GfKl. The GfKl mourns for Andreas Hilbert and with his family.

He will always be remembered.
